Almas Jiwani, President of United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) Canada Honored in Greece .
In a spectacular high-profile ceremony organized by Nikitas Kaklamanis, Mayor of Athens and the EAWC President Ms. Loula Alafoyianni, Ms. Jiwani was bestowed with the 2010 Artemis Award recognizing her endeavours to promote cross-cultural dialogue and humanitarian development of women across the world. In sequel to the award, Ms Jiwani was also welcomed by various Canadian Ministers such as Hon. Bev Oda , Minister of International Cooperation and Hon. The President and the Board of Directors of the Canadian National Committee of UNIFEM to present Her Excellency Michaëlle Jean with the  UNIFEM  Canada Award.
Almas  Jiwani  will bestow the Governor General at her residence at Rideau Hall with the prestigious honor  in a ceremony to recognize her outstanding efforts to empower women and girls world-wide.

Greece Honours Almas Jiwani, President of United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) Canada With a Commemorative Stamp

The Government of Greece in association with the Hellenic Post Office Authority of Greece and Ms. Loula Loi Alafoyiannis, Founder and Executive Global President, EAWC, has honored Almas Jiwani, President of UNIFEM Canada, with a commemorative stamp in recognition of her lifelong commitment and contribution to advocating for women's equality rights around the world. Ms. Jiwani is one of 16 distinguished honorees selected from across the world to receive the 2010 Artemis Award. She is the second Canadian recipient in the award's history, and the first UNIFEM president honoured with a commemorative stamp in Greece.

President of UNIFEM Canada recieves letter of felicitations from Canadian Dignitaries for her humanitarian services to women as the recipient of the 2010 Artemis Award.

In a follow up to her award ceremony in Athens , Greece as the winner of the 2010 Artemis Award, Almas Jiwani , the President of UNIFEM Canada, also received highly appreciative letters of felicitation from Canadian dignitaries and politiicans including the Mayor of Toronto, Minister for the Status of Women and the Minister of International Cooperation along with a personal congratulatory note from the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, Honorable Stephen L. Point.

July 7th 2010 - Almas Jiwani, a noted Canadian entrepreneur, President and CEO of Frontier Canada Inc., and the President of
the Canadian National Committee of the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM Canada), was recognized today for her continuous and exceptional work in eliciting awareness of
equal rights for women and encouraging the empowerment of women. This morning, Ms. Jiwani was one of 6 distinguished honourees bestowed with the "Goddess Artemis Award", in Athens, Greece, at the Euro-American Women's Council's (EAWC) lavish red carpet ceremony recognizing her endeavours in promote cross-cultural dialogue and humanitarian development of women across the world.

United Nations General Assembly Votes on the Creation of an ever stronger and affirmative action oriented United Nations Women’s Entity on Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women

On July 2nd 2010, the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon accepted the motion from the general assembly of member states of the UN to create a new gender entity to accelerate progress for women’s rights and programs in the developing world and meet the increasingly important challenges facing women and girls across the world in the near future.
